The Art of Thanksgiving

Sheila and Tom discuss some of the iconic works in illustration and fine art that depicted Thanksgiving, and others associated with abundance, a bountiful harvest, and a celebration of the fruits of one’s labors. The works of early American painters, such as Edward Hicks and John Singleton Copley, are discussed; and there’s an interesting discussion of the place in American art of Normal Rockwell and others often excluded from consideration by critics.

The Glenstone Museum

Sheila Blake and Tom Xenakis explore the newly expanded exhibition space and landscaping at the Glenstone Museum, in Potomac Maryland.  They discuss one couple’s generosity in sharing their collection of contemporary art in a new museum.
